Middle school kids have easy access to drugs?

Question: Middle school kids have easy access to drugs?

(Posted by: Ofsoundandfury on 2010-09-02 12:00:17)

I volunteer part time at my local middle school. We have a serious drug problem here. The anonymous surveys on students show that a lot more students can get marijuana and cocaine than alcohol due to regulation. This really concerns me. Why doesn't the government regulate dangerous substances so kids can't get a hold of them? 13 year old's smoking pot and doing cocaine is okay, we should just let them have fun? The government needs to step in and legalize drugs for adults and put strict regulation on them. Prison time for anyone who provides drugs to minors. 13 year old's smoking pot and doing cocaine is okay, we should just let them have fun? First, while it is illegal, marijuana isn't a bad "drug " (honestly, I don't consider it one.. Its a damn plant. You pick it, you smoke it. Thats it.). Just wanna put that out there... But you should be concerned about coke, meth, crack, heroin, and prescription pill addictions. And the governement CAN'T regulate something illegal. Now.. If they were to legalize marijuana.. It could be commercially grown, taxed, and sold in stores with an age limit on it. But thats about the extent of it all. Drugs like coke and prescription pills are semi-regulated and used legally (as well as illegally). There are many many drugs that hospitals use that have been derived from cocaine.

How do you regulate something that is illegal.

If the government regulates drugs even more, then the usage will go up.

The last time I checked the items mentioned are "regulated " but like most illegal items can still be squired by those searching. Volunteers and parents need to educate children giving them information and decision making abilities. Teach them that self approval is much stronger and better then pier approval. Americans are raised with little self esteem and have a need seek out a group to validate their self esteem rather than finding it themselves. We can not make those decisions for them only attempt to guide them.

Parents need to control their kids, not the government…

At the middle school I went to (I'm in high school now) has kids shanking each other over what school they go to now and making Facebook groups bragging about it. And I found out a girl just got pregnant by a twelve year old. It's really jacked up I accept that there are gangbangers and dope dealers and potheads in high school but middle school kids shouldn't be messing around with that stuff. It might sound weird coming from a kid, but parents need to step their game up half these parents are scared of their own kids nowadays.

Fact, I actually used to go to school some days only to pick up, cause every one knows there is no place more filled with drugs, violence and sex than a school in a shit neighborhood legalize the drugs, fuck black market capitalism its simply about supply and demand, you can't get rid of the demand to get high, make sure you supply or you'll get unregulated criminals to do it for you. Then the price goes up, the products get cut with dangerous shit, people get in fights over money, everyone suffers anybody who doesnt grasp this concept, get the hell out of the conversation

I question the validity of these 'anonymous surveys'. The severity & urgency is always exaggerated to scare the h*ll out of emotionally retarded parents who exist in another world full of bogeymen & drug pushers around every corner. I hear that you volunteer, but in what capacity? One thing is for sure, if teenagers want to hide something from adults, they have a whole network of tight-lipped co-conspirators! You will see one thing & believe another if they want you, as a 'volunteer' & outsider, to do so. I don't doubt that some realities are harsh & drugs are rampant in areas. They are everywhere, all the time. But based on your question, "why doesn't government regulate dangerous chemicals.....? " I can determine that you are not thinking clearly & believe everything you hear & read.
