Hallucinogenic drugs: how to show the ignorant wrong?

Question: Hallucinogenic drugs: how to show the ignorant wrong?

(Posted by: Turquoise Hexagon Sun on 2010-08-28 22:04:36)

Weird title, I know. Anyways, I'm 15 years old, Im going into my sophomore year in high school. I'm doing a lot of research on hallucinogenic drugs on my own time just because I think the whole topic is really interesting. I've never done any myself...hell I've never even smoked pot. But if theres one thing I cannot stand, it's those ignorant assholes who say stuff along the lines of "all drugs are wrong ", "cleanse yourself of drugs and you'll see the light of god ", "all drugs ruin your brain " based purely on anti- drug propoganda and their unexplained connection with actual bad drugs such as cocaine and meth. How do I show these people wrong? Because they're obviously going to doubt whatever I say. Thanks. Oh, and before you arseholes try to prove me wrong, did you know that lsd is known to cure alchohol addictions? to cure autism in children? that it does not damage the brain in any way? Did you know that both Bill Gates (Microsoft) and Steve Jobs (Macintosh) both did LSD? Lewis Armstrong? The Beatles?

I'm 18 and i've never done any myself but if the opportunity came up and it was in a clean safe and secure situation i would definitely do something because i'm quite interested to see what it'd be like. i agree with your points, man.

You usually can't. It reminds me of a poem, by Emily Dickinson. Much madness is divinest sense To a discerning eye; Much sense the starkest madness. ’T is the majority In this, as all, prevails. Assent, and you are sane; Demur,—you ’re straightway dangerous, And handled with a chain. Basically, unless you agree with the majority on some stuff, they'll think you're crazy, and probably get snarky.

Let them be. Ignorant people generally don't easily change their minds. The only way you'd get them to change is by getting them to try the drugs themselves. I've done some hallucinogens myself, and I'm glad kids like you know better than to come to conclusions that they're all bad.

I did DMT in the back of a city bus and I felt God in my loins. I came.

Most of them already know they're wrong but they aren't willing to risk speaking up. For example Carl Sagan smoked pot every day and wrote a lot about it in his private journals. In his estimation some of the deepest insights in his career as a scientist came as cannabis inspired intuition. There's two worlds, the real world and the one society insist on pretending is real, thankfully the pretend one changes from week to week.

Drugs are mind-altering substances, and the long-term negative effects far outweigh the neutral or positive short-term effects. This is also true for socially accepted drugs, such as caffeine and alcohol.

Most drugs are bad for your body. The one and only drug that has no record of deaths is pot!

Maybe not show them but tell them don't judge it till you try it yourself. FTW

Your totally right. hallucinogens are the safest types of drugs. unless you count weed which isnt really even a drug

Terrance McKenna says that hallucinogenic drugs are a good way to reboot your operating system. I agree. You won't show the nay-sayers wrong, but odds are they'll never be of the right mindset to have a good time on drugs anyway.

Some people just believe what they were taught by their parents/ teachers/ D.A.R.E. officers. They don't bother actually doing any research. I'm 14, and I've never done any drugs, nor have I smoked pot. But I'm not some arrogant straight-edge kid, either. If people choose to put those substances in their bodies, it's their business. But I don't think that there's anything you can do. If they are firmly set in their belief that all drugs are bad, including hallucinogenic and non-addictive ones, then you can't really prove them wrong. They'd have to try it for themselves, which they won't.

Because you probably won't because you don't have any of your own research to prove it. You also don't state what the source of the information you're getting is. Hopefully not on the internet because any "ignorant asshole " can post whatever they want on the web and can justify anything. Try looking into medical journals, the information in those will be more convincing and there is plenty of data there on the subject.

ACtually, Isn't marajuana supposed to help with your health? Except the inhalation of smoke, that's always bad though. Buuuut, pot doesn't have nicotine to get you addicted so technically not really bad for you. Most of the others are bad though cause it fücks you up.

I don't think it is necessary to prove these people wrong. They won't believe you because they have their minds set one way & it's closed to any sort of argument, logical or otherwise. It's great tthat you did your own research & are not ignorant & closed minded like many are on the subject of drugs, especially hallucinogens. Don't trip. As long as you are informed let people think what they like. Peace

So did Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and many of other dead superstars of our time. Take a "Chill Pill ", you need to relax.

Does the bible actually forbid the use of drugs for pleasure? It does not name such substances as heroine, cocaine, LSD, PCP(angel dust), marijuana, and tobacco. But it does provide needed guide lines so that we can know what to do and what to avoid in order to please God. Similarly, the bible does not say that it is wrong to use a gun to kill someone but forbids murder. it is proven that long term use of marijuana deteriorates the mental and physiological processes. it's continued use leads to delusional thinking. after 1 to 3 years of continuous use the pathological forms of thinking begin to take over the thought process. Dr. Robert L. Dupont of the National Institute on drug abuse in the US, who in the past was quoted as minimizing danger for marijuana use has now recently stated " the real issue is the health danger posed by this epidemic danger... chronic bronchitis, to the very real possibilities of harmful hormonal effects, effects on immune system and possibly even cancer. "
