Drug: Drug Rehab Facts

Question: What percentage of americans are drug addicts? what percentage use drugs regularly or casually?

Is your answer just a guess or based on actual statistics. Why do you think so many people have the need to "get high "? I feel drug use only adds to the underlying problems that drive one to drug use in the first place. (I'm relating to so- called hard drugs, alcohol, and prescription drug abuse - have I left anything out?)

If anybody "needs " to get high, they are in trouble, and probably in denial. I usually get tons of thumbs down with that answer but, I've seen the aftermath of those in denial. It's not pretty.

Most people who use hard drugs are trying to forget horrible things -- like physical / sexual abuse. I also think they probobaly suffer from some sort of mental illness, usually a mood or anxiety disorder. I have been there. There are times when my life felt so awful that I honestly did not care about anything else other than feeling better, if only in the moment. It's nice to forget.
